Did you enjoy traveling by car when you were a kid?
Yes, I did. When I was a child my family often went on short trips by car. I enjoyed looking out of the window and watching the countryside go by. Sometimes we played simple games or sang songs. I got bored sometimes on very long drives, but mostly it was fun.
Definitely — I loved family car journeys when I was young. They felt like a small adventure: I’d press my face to the window and watch the scenery change, spot animals and little towns, and we’d play word games to pass the time. Those trips also meant quality time with my parents, talking about things we wouldn’t at home. Even now I associate the sound of the engine and a bit of road banter with happy memories.
What types of cars do you like?
I like small cars, like hatchbacks. They are easy to park and cheaper to run. I also like cars that are comfortable and not too noisy. I don't care much about luxury features.
I’m more drawn to compact, practical cars — think small hatchbacks or efficient hybrids. They’re easy to manoeuvre in the city, economical on fuel and usually cheaper to insure. That said, I admire classic designs and sometimes modern electric cars for their tech and low running costs. Ultimately I prefer something reliable and understated rather than flashy.
Do you prefer to be a driver or a passenger?
I prefer to be the driver because I like to be in control. I enjoy driving and listening to music. As a passenger I get bored or sleepy, so I’d rather drive.
I usually prefer being behind the wheel because I like having control and I find driving relaxing in the right company. Having said that, I don’t mind being a passenger on long journeys — it’s a good chance to read, catch up on messages or just rest. So it depends: for short trips I’ll drive, but for motorway runs I might let someone else take over if I'm tired.
What do you usually do when there is a traffic jam?
When there is a traffic jam I usually listen to music or check my phone. I try to be patient and wait. If it's very slow I sometimes take another route, but usually I stay in the car until it moves.
If I’m stuck in a traffic jam I try not to get frustrated. First I check a traffic app to see if there’s a quicker route or if it will clear soon. I’ll put on a podcast or some music, and if I’m not driving I might use the time to make a short call. Above all I keep calm and stay safe rather than trying risky lane changes.
Do you think car colours are important?
I think car colours matter a little. Some colours get dirty more easily and light colours are better in hot weather. People also choose colours they like. But colour is not the most important thing for me.
I’d say car colour does matter to an extent. Lighter colours can be cooler in summer and often show fewer scratches, while bright colours can improve visibility on the road. Colour also affects resale value and reflects personal taste, so people think about it. That said, practical features and reliability usually matter more to me than the exact shade.
Will you buy an expensive car in the future?
Probably not. I don't plan to buy an expensive car because they cost a lot to buy and to look after. I would prefer something reliable and practical. Maybe one day I would buy a nicer car as a treat.
Not unless my circumstances change — I’m unlikely to prioritise an expensive luxury car. I’d only consider it if it offered clear benefits, like superior safety, electric technology or excellent long-term value. For now I’d prefer to spend money on a house or travel. If I ever have more disposable income, I might buy a higher-end car as a treat, but it would need to be sensible and not just a status symbol.
