How often do you watch movies?
I watch movies maybe once a week, usually at the weekend. If I'm busy with work I might not watch any for a couple of weeks. I use streaming services on my laptop or TV and sometimes I go to the cinema if there's a new film I want to see.
On average I watch films about once or twice a week. During the week I might watch something short in the evenings, and at the weekend I’ll often settle down for a longer film. If a big new release comes out I try to see it in the cinema, otherwise I’ll stream things at home.
I’d say I watch films roughly once or twice a week on average, though it varies — sometimes I binge several in a weekend, other times work gets in the way and I barely watch anything. I also make a point of seeing major releases at the cinema as soon as they come out, but most ordinary viewing I do at home via streaming.
What kinds of movies do you usually watch?
I usually watch action and comedy films because they are fun and easy to follow. I also like dramas sometimes, especially if they have good actors. I don't watch horror much.
I tend to go for a mix — mostly dramas and comedies, but I'm also into thrillers and the occasional documentary. It depends on my mood: if I want something light I'll pick a comedy, but if I want something thought‑provoking I'll choose a drama or documentary.
My tastes are fairly eclectic. I’m partial to character‑driven dramas and well‑crafted thrillers, but I also enjoy intelligent comedies and a good documentary now and then. I usually avoid very gory horror, but I appreciate well‑made genre films that offer clever plotting or strong performances.
Do you prefer the cinema or watching at home?
I prefer watching at home because it's cheaper and more comfortable. I can pause the film, make tea and sit on the sofa. But I like the cinema for big action films because the screen and sound are better.
Generally I prefer watching at home for convenience — it’s cheaper, I can pause, and I feel more relaxed. That said, I’ll choose the cinema for visually spectacular films or ones made to be seen on a big screen, because the atmosphere and sound really add to the experience.
It depends on the film. For everyday viewing I prefer the comfort and flexibility of home — you can pause, rewind and control the lighting and sound. But for certain blockbusters or films with impressive sound design and visuals, I’ll opt for the cinema because nothing else replicates that immersive experience or the shared atmosphere.
Is it useful to watch movies in other languages?
Yes, I think it's useful. Watching films in other languages helps with listening and learning new words. Subtitles can help you understand. It also helps you learn how people talk in real life.
Absolutely. Watching films in another language helps with listening skills, pronunciation and learning everyday expressions. If you use subtitles at first you can follow the story, then try without them to test your understanding. It also gives you cultural insight that textbooks don't provide.
Definitely — films are a great resource for language learning. They provide natural spoken language, idioms and pronunciation in context, and expose you to cultural nuances you wouldn't get from textbooks. For best results I’d recommend active viewing: watch once with subtitles, then again without, pause to note useful phrases and try shadowing lines to practise pronunciation.
