Bagian 2 — Jawaban Model
Part 2 cue-card response
A plan I had to change recently was a weekend trip I organised with two friends. This happened a few weeks ago. We wanted to go to a coastal town for a hike and to eat seafood. On the morning we were due to leave, the weather forecast showed heavy rain and strong winds. Also one friend rang to say their car wouldn’t start. Because of that we decided to cancel the trip and stay in the city instead. The new plan was to meet at my flat, cook a big meal together and watch a film. We also went for a short walk in a nearby park between showers. At first I felt a bit disappointed because I had been looking forward to the hike and the sea air. But afterwards it was actually quite cosy and relaxed. It turned out to be a good evening and we still had fun despite the change.
A plan I recently had to change was a short weekend escape with two friends to a small coastal town. This was about three weeks ago. We’d booked a guesthouse and plotted a couple of walks along the cliffs, plus a meal at a popular seafood place. On the morning we were due to depart, we woke to a weather warning: torrential rain and gusty winds, and the roads were already looking risky. To make matters worse, one friend’s car developed a battery fault. Given the safety issues and the logistic problem, we decided to scrap the trip and improvise something local instead. The new plan was to spend the weekend in the city: we cooked together at my place, visited a nearby indoor gallery, and found a cosy café to sit out a heavy shower. I felt disappointed at first because I’d been eager for fresh air and the coast, but I quickly accepted the change. In the end I appreciated the quieter pace — it was low-stress, sociable and actually closer to what we needed, so the altered plan worked out well.
Bagian 3 - Jawaban Model
Do people often change their plans?
Yes, I think people change plans quite often. Things like weather, work, or transport problems make people alter what they intended to do. It’s normal to be flexible.
Definitely — changing plans is a common feature of everyday life. Many factors can force a rethink: unpredictable weather, last-minute work commitments, illness, or transport disruptions. People who are busy tend to reschedule and adapt quite frequently, so flexibility has become part of modern routine.
Would you tell others if you change your plan?
Usually yes. If the change affects other people I would tell them. It’s polite and helps them make other arrangements. Sometimes I might just text or call quickly.
Generally I would tell others, especially if they’re involved or might be inconvenienced. I’d choose the quickest practical method — a phone call for urgent changes, a message for less critical ones — and I’d explain why and suggest alternatives. It avoids confusion and keeps relationships smooth.
Why do you think parents still make plans for their children nowadays?
Parents still make plans for their children because they want to protect them and guide them. They think ahead about schooling and activities. They want the best future for their kids.
Many parents still make plans for their children because they feel a responsibility to shape opportunities and provide stability. Planning schooling, extra tuition or activities is a way to try to give children a head start. Sometimes it’s also about managing time and resources in busy households, or reflecting cultural expectations about success.
How does technology help people make plans?
Technology helps a lot. Calendar apps remind you of events and maps show routes. Messaging apps make it easier to change plans quickly with others.
Technology makes planning much more efficient: calendar apps handle scheduling and reminders, navigation tools estimate travel times, and shared documents or group chats let people coordinate easily. Booking platforms also allow instant changes to flights or accommodation, which reduces the stress of rearranging plans.
What kind of plans do people often make?
People often make plans for holidays, work tasks, and family events. Many also plan meals or weekend activities. These are common and everyday plans.
People typically make plans for a mix of practical and leisure reasons: holidays and short breaks, work deadlines and meetings, family celebrations, and daily routines like meals or exercise. Some also plan longer-term goals such as buying a house or further study, which require more detailed preparation.
Do you think people like the process of making plans more, or the moment of carrying them out?
I think people like carrying out plans more. Making plans can be boring. The action and result usually give satisfaction and enjoyment.
It depends, but many people enjoy the moment of carrying plans out more because that’s when they see the results and feel a sense of achievement. However, some actually enjoy the planning phase — organising details gives them control and satisfaction. Overall, the payoff tends to be what people remember and cherish.
