Do you have a favorite teacher?
Yes. I had a favourite teacher at secondary school — my English teacher. She made lessons enjoyable and always explained things clearly. I liked her because she was patient and encouraged everyone to speak up in class.
Yes, I do. My favourite was my English teacher at secondary school. She had a way of making literature come alive and used lots of practical activities, so lessons never felt dull. She was approachable and gave me confidence to speak in public, which has helped me ever since.
Do you want to be a teacher in the future?
No, I don't think I will be a teacher. I like working with people, but I prefer the idea of a job in business or technology. I do enjoy helping friends with studying though.
I probably won't become a full-time teacher. I enjoy mentoring and explaining things, but I see myself working in a more technical role and doing occasional tutoring on the side. Teaching part-time or mentoring would be a nice way to stay involved without giving up my main career path.
Do you have a teacher from your past that you still remember?
Yes, I remember my maths teacher from primary school. He was strict but fair. He made me work hard and taught me to check my answers carefully. I still think about his lessons sometimes.
Definitely. I still remember a primary school maths teacher who organised a small project where we had to design a shop and use real money. It was quite creative and made abstract ideas practical. That experience stuck with me because it showed how learning can be hands-on.
Are you still in touch with your primary school teachers?
Not really. I don't keep in touch with most of my primary school teachers. A couple of them are on social media, but we don't talk much. Life gets busy and people move on.
I only keep in touch with one or two primary teachers. We exchange a message every now and then, and I went to a school reunion where I saw one of them. Most of the others I've lost contact with because we moved cities and everyone's busy.
In what way has your favourite teacher helped you?
My favourite teacher helped me by explaining things when I didn't understand and by giving me extra practice. She also wrote a good reference for my college application. That support was important.
She helped me in several practical ways: she taught me study techniques, gave regular feedback on my essays, and wrote a persuasive reference for university applications. More than that, she pushed me to believe I could do well, which changed how I approached learning.
Do you like your primary school teachers more than your high school teachers?
I think I liked my primary school teachers more because they were kinder and more patient. High school teachers were stricter and focused more on exams. Both were useful though.
It's hard to choose. Primary teachers tended to be more nurturing and focused on basic social skills, so they feel warmer in my memory. High school teachers were more specialised and pushed us academically, which was stressful but useful. So I appreciate both for different reasons.
