Do you like science?
Yes, I do. I think science is useful and interesting. I like how it explains things in the world, like why the sky is blue or how plants grow. I don’t follow every new discovery, but I enjoy basic science topics.
Yes, I enjoy science quite a lot. I’m fascinated by the way it helps us understand everyday things and solve real problems, from medicines to clean energy. I don’t claim to know everything, but I like reading short articles or watching videos about new discoveries and experiments.
When did you start to learn about science?
I started learning science at primary school, so around six or seven years old. We did simple experiments like mixing colours and planting seeds. Later at secondary school we had more formal lessons and labs.
My curiosity about science began in early childhood — I remember taking apart toys to see how they worked. Formal lessons started at primary school, around six or seven, and later the lab work in secondary school made it more serious and enjoyable.
Which science subject is interesting to you?
Biology is the most interesting to me. I like learning about animals and plants and how living things work. It feels relevant because it connects to health and the environment.
I’m most drawn to biology, especially ecology and human physiology. I find it absorbing to learn how ecosystems hang together and how small changes can affect whole communities. It’s also very relevant to current issues like conservation and public health.
What kinds of interesting things have you done with science?
At school I did basic experiments, like making a volcano model and using a microscope to look at cells. Once I helped my teacher with a small recycling project. Those activities were fun and practical.
I’ve done a few practical science projects: in school I helped build a model of an ecosystem and ran simple experiments under a microscope, and more recently I volunteered on a community air-quality monitoring project. That last one involved placing sensors and collecting data, which felt quite satisfying.
Do you like watching science TV programs?
Sometimes. I like watching science documentaries now and then, especially nature programmes. They are easy to follow and show things you can’t see in real life.
Yes, I enjoy science programmes, particularly well-made documentaries that explain ideas clearly and visually. I also like short online clips that summarise research — they’re quicker but still informative. A good programme can make complicated topics accessible and entertaining.
Do Chinese people often visit science museums?
Many Chinese people do visit science museums, especially families and school groups. Museums are popular places for children to learn and play with interactive exhibits.
Yes, visiting science museums is quite common in China, particularly for school trips and family outings. In recent years there’s been more investment in interactive science centres, so they’re seen as both educational and entertaining. That said, visits depend on where people live — city residents go more often than those in rural areas.
