IELTSpeaking publishes independent preparation material for the IELTS Speaking test. This policy explains what our topic labels mean, how we use public sources, how model answers are written and where AI feedback stops being authoritative.
Sources and factual review
Test timing, format and scoring criteria are checked against public pages and band descriptors on IELTS.org. Where an official source exists, our major format and scoring guides link to it. We paraphrase rather than reproduce protected descriptor text at length.
Current, predicted and archived topics
IELTS does not publish a guaranteed public question list for a future test date. A collection marked predicted is a third-party preparation set based on the active question-bank cycle available to IELTSpeaking; it is not an official paper and no question is guaranteed. Older topics remain available as archived practice because the language skills are still useful.
Model answers
Our Band 6 and Band 7 examples are learning comparisons, not official examiner scripts or promises that repeating an answer will earn that score. Editors check that each answer addresses the question, sounds plausible when spoken and demonstrates a meaningful change in detail, organisation, vocabulary or grammatical control. Learners should adapt ideas to their own experience instead of memorising the wording.
AI scores and feedback
An IELTSpeaking AI score is a practice estimate based on a recording. Microphone quality, transcription errors, accent coverage and the questions attempted can affect the result. Use the four-criterion breakdown and repeated trends to choose what to practise; do not treat one estimate as an official result or a guaranteed prediction. An official IELTS Speaking band is awarded through the official test process by a certificated examiner.
Authorship and updates
Pages are assigned to John or Lily, the editors responsible for preparing or reviewing the material. Updated dates change when the generator, questions or substantive guidance changes—not for cosmetic edits alone.

IELTSpeaking is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by IELTS, the British Council, IDP or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. IELTS is a registered trademark of its respective owners.
