How IELTS Overall Band rounding works
1. AddAdd the four section bands.
2. DivideDivide that total by four.
3. ReportRound the average to the nearest whole or half band; .25 moves to the next half and .75 to the next whole.
For example, Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 5.0 and Speaking 7.0 produce an average of 6.25 and a reported Overall Band of 6.5. A 6.125 average reports as 6.0. The interactive bars make the individual section profile visible so the overall number does not hide a weak area.

Correct answers out of 40 are converted to bands. Exact thresholds can vary slightly by test version, so a single chart is a guide rather than a guarantee.
Writing task scores
Writing uses four assessment criteria, and Task 2 contributes more to the Writing result than Task 1. It is not a simple raw-mark total.
