Band 6 and Band 7 model answers

Record your answer first. Then compare how the stronger model develops the same question with clearer detail, linking and control.

Do you live in a house or an apartment?

Band 6 model

I live in a two-bedroom apartment with my parents. It is on the sixth floor of a fairly new building, about twenty minutes from the city centre. It is not very large, but it has enough space for the three of us.

Speaking criteria note: The stronger answer stays personal while adding precise details about the building, location, transport and layout. The details extend the answer naturally instead of turning it into a memorised description.
One useful move

How to improve this answer

Answer directly, give a reason and add one natural personal detail.

Answer directly in the first sentence, add one personal reason or detail, and stop naturally after two or three connected sentences.

Check the four IELTS Speaking scoring criteria, then record again without copying the model wording.
